CBG, or Cannabigerol, is a type of cannabinoid derived from the cannabis plant. Often referred to as the mother of all cannabinoids, other cannabinoids are derived from CBGA, or cannabigerolic acid.
CBG is used for a variety of things. Some will use it for glaucoma due to its powerful vasodilator and neuroprotective abilites. In animal studies involving mice, it has been found to decrease inflammation associated with inflammatory bowel disease. It also shows great promise as a cancer fighter. CBG appears to block the receptors that cause cancer cell growth. There has also been positive results in animal studies involving mice for Huntingtons disease.
European research shows it has strong antibacterial properties, particularly against MRSA ( methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). CBG has more potent analgesic (pain-relieving), anti-erythema (anti-inflammatory rash) and lipoxygenase (inflammation) blocking activity than THC.
